Life Food
Did you know that what you do off the plate can be as important as what you do on it? We’re talking about life food. The stuff that fuels your soul. You won’t find it in the kitchen but it plays a big part in maintaining good health.
Life food is really about relationships, both with yourself and with others, and the choices we make. It’s not a coincidence that ‘comfort food’ and ‘emotional eating’ are tied together, and tend to take over when we’re angry or upset. An emotional eater won’t opt for the jar of unsweetened applesauce; the pint of ice cream is far more appealing. But when we’re happy and surrounded by people we care about who radiate positive energy it is easier to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
Try looking at all aspects of your life – relationships, career, physical activity, spirituality, finances and health and figure out which of these things you feel needs to be worked on, then think about what you can do to improve upon those things. Maybe working ‘off the plate’ means finding a physical activity that satisfies you. Or perhaps it’s about finding the career you crave. It could be about learning how to crowd out relationships that bring you down. There’s no right or wrong answer because nourishing yourself with life food means different things to different people. But once you have that ah-ha moment…that moment when you discover how what you’re eating off the plate affects what’s on it, you’ll be in a wonderful place. And a Health Coach can help get you there.
Eat healthy. Be happy.
